CABIN
RIDGE GROUP TOURS
GROUP
TOURS
Our
status as a Century Farm was celebrated in 2002. We
are
enjoying life along Paint Creek into our 6th generation.
We
love to share our farm and history with groups! We hope
you
will come visit Cabin Ridge and become part of our family!
CONCERT
IN THE WOODS
When you arrive at Cabin Ridge Rides you will be greeted by your hosts,
Rusty and Judy Gilles. The adventure begins with a horse drawn ride taking
you deep within 400 acres of natural woods. Listen to the calming sounds of
nature, chattering squirrels, and songbird melodies. Upon reaching the
cabins you will be treated to a delicious meal in the gas lit lodge or on
the shaded decks of Cabin Ridge.
Now begins the "Concert in the Woods" by
the acoustic contemporary folk group Danville who has two recordings to
their credit, "Love Like a River" and "Age to Age and Heart to Heart." This
family includes Tim and Kathy Danielson and their teenage children Casey and
Joe. You will enjoy their four-part harmonies accompanied by a variety of
musical instruments including guitars, mandolin, acoustic bass, harmonica,
or maybe even a kazoo! Their songs as well as their stories about love,
family, baseball, children, memories, and relationships will move you from
tears to laughter.
Local Irish historian Judy Gannon Gilles makes history
come alive by portraying her grandmother Ella in 1945. Your day winds down
with a relaxing wagon ride out of the woods where you will end up at Judy's
gift shop.

DANVILLE
SINGERS
Although they were raised 100 miles apart, (Kathy in
the city of St. Paul, MN and Tim on a dairy farm in
rural Cadott, WI), they grew up listening to the same
music. Being inspired by the songs of Peter, Paul, and
Mary, Simon and Garfunkel, and The Everly Brothers,
it was very natural for them to sing the same type of
harmonies when they began performing together in college.
As the duo grew musically, they also grew romantically,
and were married shortly after graduation from UWRF
in 1981.
Between Kathy's full-time teaching job, Tim's taxidermy
business, the time spent on the family farm, and raising
two teenage children, they still find time to do about
50 performances a year. Whether playing at concert halls,
coffeehouses, churches, or music festivals, they move
audiences from tears to laughter with songs and stories
about love, family, baseball, children, memories and
relationships. They call their style of music 'acoustic
contemporary folk' and have recorded two CDs: Love Like
A River and Age to Age and Heart to Heart. They are
currently working on a third, which will be a family
Christmas CD. Also becoming a regular part of the group
are son Joe, playing the acoustic bass and daughter
Casey, playing mandolin. They add their vocal harmonies
to many numbers.
Danville has enjoyed playing for audiences, young and
old, large and small for over 20 years, and will continue
to do so as long as folks continue to listen.
